PM advises foreign-bound workers to take loans from Probashi Kallyan Bank

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has advised aspirant migrant workers to take loans from state-run Probashi Kallyan Bank if needed.

The Prime Minister gave the directive at a cabinet meeting on Monday, said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam.

The meeting was held at the cabinet division of the secretariat under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. She joined the meeting via video conference from her residence Ganabhaban.

After the meeting, the cabinet secretary briefed the media about the highlights of the meeting.

The prime minister said taking loans from Probashi Kallyan Bank eliminates any possibility of falling into a victim of fraudsters, and

She also said that all authorities concerned must ensure that aspirant migrants do not fall into the clutches of brokers.

She also instructed foreign job seekers to be properly informed from the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and other related offices before migrating.

To create awareness to this end, the prime minister instructed authorities concerned to run massive campaigns through various media platforms, and make sure that no one pays more money than needed.

The cabinet secretary also said the meeting decided to allow businesses to import products through confirmed agreements instead of opening Letter of Credit (LC) documents. It can be done through TTs (telegraphic transfers).

The meeting also approved a draft that proposes a ban on cutting down trees that are along roads and highways, public places, and even in private properties unless permission is taken from related authorities.

The secretary also said the PM directed the expatriate’s ministry to find suitable workers for 100 economic zones that lack enough workforce.

In this regard, the ministry has been asked to start recruiting campaigns and also train potential workers.
