Digital World 2020 kicks off

Digital World 2020 has kicked off in the city with a slogan of ‘socially distanced – digitally connected’.

To showcase Bangladesh's advancements in ICT, the three-day event for the first time was organised both in a virtual environment and physical location at Bangladesh Film Archive in Dhaka's Agargaon.

President Abdul Hamid inaugurated the event through a virtual message around 1pm on Wednesday.

“Although the coronavirus epidemic temporarily hampered our development and progress, it did not stop it because of the successful implementation of the 'Digital Bangladesh' initiative of the government,” said the president in the message.

He urged the concerned agencies and organisations to focus more on regular research and creation of basic knowledge in the field of information technology.

ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services President Syed Almas Kabir attended the event.

The event will feature an award ceremony, software showcasing, freelancer conference, e-Governance Expo, ministerial conference, e-Commerce Expo, musical concert, seminars and many more.
