Covid-19 claims 37 lives, infects 1,861 in last 24hrs

Dhaka (Dec 10, 2020): Bangladesh recorded 37 more deaths and 1,861 fresh cases from novel coronavirus across the country including capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours ending 8:00am on Thursday.

The data shows a sudden spike in 13 deaths from the coronavirus within a span of 24 hours ending 8:00am on Wednesday.

With the fresh tally, the total number of death rose to 6,967 while the number of infection stood at 4, 85,965, said a press statement of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the period, around 16,265 samples were tested at different government authorized laboratories across the country and 1,861 of them were found positive from the deadly disease.

Around 4,486 persons were discharged from different hospitals across the country after their recovery from the virus.

With the latest figure, a total of 4, 10, 452 person have so far recovered from the virus, the DGHS said in the press statement.

According to the data, the infection rate stands at 84.46 percent while the infection rate at 11.44 percent.

In Bangladesh, the first coronavirus case was detected on March 8 and the first death case was recorded just after 10 days of the same month.
