US to donate 100 ventilators soon: Health minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said that America will donate at least one hundred sophisticated ventilators to Bangladesh accelerating treatment facilities to the patients infected with Covid-19 or other diseases.
“America is a tested friend of Bangladesh. The country will donate one hundred new and sophisticated ventilators to us in the next few days,” the health minister said this after a meeting held at Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka this afternoon.
US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E Biegun, US Ambassador in Dhaka Earl R Miller and other officials of the embassy were present at the meeting.
Both the sides, during the meeting, shared practical experience in fighting the coronavirus outbreak and sought eternal peace of the people who met the end of their lives after being infected by the Covid-19.
The health minister highlighted the government’s initiatives taken in line with the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to face the challenges of the pandemic, during the meeting.
Besides, the visiting American delegates also praised the prime minister for her pragmatic role in dealing with the outbreak.
Stephen E Biegun said America will help Bangladesh in getting the Covid-19 vaccine in the quickest time.
Stephen E Biegun and Earl R Miller also handed over two ultramodern blood gas analyzer machines to the hospital.
