Dhaka (Dec 14, 2020): Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday blamed BNP for patronising communal forces and provoking militancy in the country on sculpture issue of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“It is now clear and proven matter that BNP is patronising communal forces and militancy from behind over the sculpture issue,” Quader came up with the remarks after placing wreath at the altar of the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur area this morning, marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day.
Quader said, sensing absolute defeat, the Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators abducted the nation’s illustrious sons and killed them on December 14 in 1971.
The attack was carried out to make the nation intellectually void. Even after so many years, the communal evil forces are still engaged in hatching conspiracy, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said.
Quader flanked by a good number and leaders and activists of his party's different front and associate bodies went to the memorial early in the morning and placed the wreaths with due solemnity.
He also called upon his party men to take a fresh vow upholding the spirit of the Liberation War to eliminate all evil forces from the country to fulfill the dream of the father of the nation.
Apart from the party men, people from different classes, professions and sections and activists from different socio-cultural organisations also paid their homage to the great heroes of the country on this occasion.
