Dhaka (Oct 24, 2020): Hinting the Raihan’s death incident in Sylhet police custody, Home Minister Asaduzzaman today said the main culprit of the killing has been identified and police are engaged in carrying out drives to arrest him.

“We will arrest him (the mastermind) immediately. No offender will be given acquittal. Even police are not being exempted after committing offences,” Kamal said while talking to reporters at Tangail Circuit House this noon.     

Claiming that police forces are for the people and work with people, the home minister said the forces have already become able to earn people’s trust through their activities.

On October 11, Rayhan Ahmed, 34, a resident of Akharia in Sylhet city, was beaten to death in police custody and family members of the victim filed a case following day accusing a number of unidentified people.

Not only in the crisis of coronavirus outbreak, the police forces stand beside people in any types of disaster take place in the country, he said.

Police are always remained vigilant against rape and killing incidents and thus no offenders are not being given chance to go exemption, he said.

“No troublemakers are given acquittal. The members within the police department who are violating discipline and committing offences are also being booked for justice and punishment,” he said.

Prime Minister is doing whatever necessary to modernize the police department, Kamal said highlighted the services were given by the police forces during the pandemic of Covid-19.
