It is possible to bring down border killings to ‘zero’: BGB DG

It is possible to bring down killings along the Bangladesh-India border to zero by holding diplomatic talks and creating awareness among people along the border, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Md Shafeenul Islam said on Sunday.

He made the observation while addressing the BGB Day 2020 at its Pilkhana headquarters in Dhaka.

BGB is trying to create awareness among people in the border region so they don’t cross border illegally, said Shafeenul Islam.

Marking the day, BGB director general hoisted BGB’s regimental flags atop BGB headquarters formally at 9am.

He also paid homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreaths at the ‘Simanto Gourab’ at the BGB headquarters in Dhaka at 9:15am.

The day’s programmes also include cutting cakes, special dinner and doa and milad mahfil at all mosques in the Pilkhana area.
