Covid-19: 4.5cr people to be vaccinated by May-June next year

The government on Monday took a decision to provide coronavirus vaccine to 4.5crore people across the country by May to June next year.
The decision was taken during today’s weekly cabinet meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam briefed media after the meeting this afternoon.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took part in the meeting virtually from her official residence Gono Bhaban.
While addressing the media briefing, the cabinet secretary said three crore doses of vaccines for 1.5crore people will be brought at the end of January or at the beginning of February in the upcoming year.
And more doses of vaccine will be brought to fight the pandemic of coronavirus, Anwarul Islam said adding that training session on how to push the vaccine into human body has already been begun.
Health workers of all the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) centres will be engaged in the vaccination programme to make the efforts a success, he added.
During the meeting, the prime minister once again stressed the need for compelling people in wearing mask and ordered the concerned authorities to enforce the ‘no mask no service rule’ in a bid to contain the spread of the virus, he said.
She also asked the concerned authorities to go for hardline to execute social distancing policy to put an end to the outbreak of the virus in the country, the cabinet secretary said.
