Luxury cruise ship reaches St. Martin with over 500 tourists

MV Bay One, a luxurious cruise ship, began its journey from Cox’s Bazar to St. Martin Island on Monday.
The ship reached the St. Martin Island in the Bay of Bengal with over 500 tourists this afternoon.
The ship began its journey from Cox’s Bazar around 10:15am and anchored around 700 to 800 feet away from a jetty of the St. Martin Island around 2:30pm, after rounding its adjoining Chheradia Island.
The ship took four hours and 15 minutes to reach the Island. It is a speedy and international standard ship. Earlier, it took about six hours to reach the Island from Cox’s Bazar.
Now the ship is able to reach the Island from Cox’s Bazar within 3 hours and 30 minutes, according to the authority.
Khalid Mahmud, state minister for shipping, inaugurated the journey of the ship from Anwara Shipyard in Karnaphuly River yesterday.
Karnaphuli Ship Builders Ltd has brought the ultramodern ship from Japan to ensure safe journey of the tourists.
While addressing the inaugural function, Khalid Mahmud said the ship will play a vital role in improving the tourism industry in the area.
