Dhaka-London flights to remain on, says minister

When more than 40 countries have banned arrivals from UK because of mounting concerns over a new more transmissible mutation of new coronavirus, Bangladesh is determined to continue flight operation with the country.
Md Mahbub Ali, state minister for civil aviation and tourism, on Wednesday expressed the government determination while talking to reporters at a programme in Dhaka this noon.
He said the government is not thinking about imposition of fresh restrictions on flight operation with any countries amid the evolving situation of the new and highly infectious coronavirus strain.
Air Vice Marshall Mohammed Mofidur Rahman chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab), has said the concerned authorities have installed screening system at three airports in the country for the returnees from abroad to check the spread of the virus.
According to the UN health agency, scientists have been working to understand new Covid-19 variants that have been reported in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
According to news reports, more than 40 countries have banned arrivals from the UK, because of mounting concerns over a new, more transmissible mutation of the new coronavirus.
However, the European Commission has called upon concerned authorities to lift the ban for the sake of keeping emergency travel and trade uninterrupted in the European Union member countries.
