Bangladesh recorded 30 more deaths and 1,367 new cases of deadly novel coronavirus from different parts of the country including capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours ending 8:00am on Wednesday.

With the updated data, the total death toll stands at 7,359 while the total number of infection reaches 5, o4, 868, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the data in press release this afternoon.

Around 15,932 samples were tested at 163 government authorised laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours and 1,367 samples were detected positive for the virus, the DGHS said in the press release.

At the same time, 2,416 people were released from different hospitals after their recovery from the infection across the country, taking the total recovery number to 4, 44, 345, the press release added.

As par the updated statistics, the infection rate stood at 8.58 percent, recovery rate 88.01 percent and the death rate stood at 1.46 percent in the last 24 hours.

In Bangladesh the first coronavirus case was detected on March 8 and the first death was recorded just after 10 days of the same month.

Global situation

The coronavirus took over 14,000 lives and infected 6, 00000 people across the world in the last 24 hours ending 9:00am on Wednesday, according to a tally of Johns Hopkins University.

According to the JHU report, 1.71 million people have died while 78.04 million people have been infected by the virus across the globe since the first case was detected in China in December last year.
