Bangladesh reports 1493 new virus cases, 23 deaths

Dhaka (Oct 28, 2020):  The number of detected novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh rose to 403,079 as 1,493 more new cases were reported after testing 12,357 samples in the last 24 hours till Wednesday 8:00pm.

During the time, a total of 23 people infected with coronavirus died raising the total death in the country to 5, 861, according to a press release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The rate of detection in the last 24 hours was 12.08 per cent, while the overall rate of detection of infected cases as of Wednesday stands at 17.55 per cent.

A total of 1,610 people were reportedly recovered from the highly infectious disease in the time, taking the number of total recovery to 319,733.

The overall rate of people recovered as of today stands at 79.32 per cent while the rate of death is 1.45 per cent, it added.

Of the people died in the last 24 hours, 19 were male and four female. Of the total deaths so far, 4,513 were males (77.01 per cent) and 1,348 females (22.99 per cent).

A total of 12,506 samples were collected in the last 24 hours. As of Wednesday, the number of samples tested in Bangladesh stands at 22,96,321.

Bangladesh detected first coronavirus patient on March 8 and recorded first death on March 18.
