Dhaka (Nov 2, 2020): Several hundreds of Malaysia returnees took to the street in front of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Segunbagicha area of Dhaka today seeking the government intervention to extend duration of their visas and to ensure their quick return to the country.

The agitated people, who stranded in the country for around seven months due to the coronavirus pandemic, brought out a procession from in front of the National Press Club around 10:00am and took to the street blocking vehicular movement on the road.

While talking some newsmen, expatriate Loton Ahmed said he returned home in the last March due to the coronavirus pandemic and by this time, the duration of his visa has expired.

“There is no money in my hand. I want to my workplace,” the agitated expatriate narrated his saga.

Aziz Zaman who is also an agitator, said he came home in the same month on the same ground and duration of his visa will expire by December this year. “I want to return my workplace in Malaysia.”

Most of the agitators said duration of their 90 percent visas will expire by December if the government does not for any negotiation with the Malaysian government, some demonstrators said.

From the demonstration programme, they urged the government to take an immediate step by arranging chartered flight for the expatriate worker following health guideline.
