Govt to make use of mask mandatory for all: Health minister

Dhaka (Nov 3, 2020): Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said that the government will immediately make the wearing of mask mandatory for people until the coronavirus vaccines come.
“It is now very important for all of wearing mask. We will take a step soon so that people are forced to wear mask mandatorily until coronavirus vaccine comes,” the minister said this while addressing a meeting at his secretariat office in Dhaka this afternoon.
Many countries have already been affected by the second wave of coronavirus and many of the countries imposed lockdown for two to three times, he said.
“We are also worried over the possible second wave in the coming winter,” the minister said adding that the country’s health sector is well equipped in dealing with the wave.
The infection of the virus may take into an acute turn in the country if people are not be careful in maintaining the health guidelines, he said adding that there is no alternative but to obey the health guidelines.
Earlier an inter-ministerial meeting was held at the conference room of the health ministry and the meeting discussed several issues in fighting the second wave of the Covid-19. High officials and secretaries of different ministries attended the meeting virtually.
