Bangladesh reports 1,289 new cases, 13 deaths

Bangladesh has reported 1,289 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total number of reported positive cases to 418,764.

Meanwhile, 13 more patients died from Covid-19, taking the total number of death to 6,049.

Among them, 3,161 have died in Dhaka division alone. 1,194 died in Chattogram, 373 in Rajshahi, 474 in Khulna, 201 in Barishal, 252 in Sylhet, 268 in Rangpur and 126 in Mymensingh.

As of Saturday, 336,568 patients (80.25 percent) have recovered. 1,541 of them in the last 24 hours.

Currently, the fatality rate in Bangladesh is 1.44 percent, the Directorate General of Health Services said.

Bangladesh reported its first cases of the novel coronavirus on March 8. The number of cases reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. 

The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 6,000 on November 4.

So far, 2,429,842 tests have been carried out, including 11,419 new tests, and 17.23 percent of them have turned out positive.
