BNP wants to take revenge unleashing arson attack again: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today blasted BNP for again unleashing the politics of arson attack saying that the party wants to take revenge of its failure by setting people on fire.

“BNP again unleashed its politics of arson attack as it has already been rejected by people politically,” Quader, also read transport and bridges minister, came upon with the allegation while addressing a virtual programme from his residence on the parliament complex premise.

The programme was organized on the occasion of a council of Rajshahi’s Bagmara upazila unit Awami League.    

Claiming that there are video footages of setting buses on fire in the city which show all known and old faces, Quader said adding that police are trying to unveil the mysteries of a phone conversation in this regard.  

Citing the BNP previous political culture of arson attack, he said this very party has gone on arson attack spree by throwing petrol bombs and setting fire on passenger buses.

In 2013, BNP set buses on fire by pouring gun powder and this time, the party did the same to meet its evil political desire, the Awami League leader said.

On Thursday, nine vehicles were torched at separate places of the capital while the by elections to Dhaka-18 and Siranjganj-1 parliamentary constituencies were on going on.

A total of 13 more cases were filed against BNP leaders and activists on charge of torching buses and throwing crude and petrol bombs.

Calling upon local leaders and activists of his party not to form any scandalous pocket committee, Quader said the dedicated and enthusiastic party men should be given space in the committee.

The conference was chaired by Bagmara Upazila Awami League President Engineer Enamul Haque where Awami League Organising Secretary SM Kamal Hossain was present.

Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton, district Awami League President Meraj Uddin Mollah, General Secretary Golam Sarwar Abul and leaders of different levels of the metropolis were also present at the conference.
