Bangladesh reports 2,273 new Covid-19 cases, 20 deaths

Bangladesh on Friday registered 2,273 new coronavirus cases and 20 deaths in 24 hours until Friday morning as the authorities apprehend another major virus outbreak in winter.

Currently, the country’s caseload stands at 458,711 with 6,544 fatalities. The current mortality rate is 1.43%, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 373,676 after another 2,223 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.

A total of 16,378 samples were tested at 118 authorised laboratories across the country during the time.

Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 13.88% tested positive, while 16.81% cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added.

Among the total infections, 81.46% patients have recovered since the first Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
