The logo of Digital Bangladesh Day 2020 was unveiled in a press conference held in the capital’s BCC Auditorium on Friday.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak attended the event as a chief guest while Senior ICT Secretary N M Ziaul Alam presided over the event.
“When the country’s economy fell behind, the electricity users were below 40 percent and mobile phone users were less than 56 percent, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina showed us the dreams of Digital Bangladesh,” Palak said during his speech as the chief guest.
“After winning the election, Bangladesh is developing at a rapid speed and getting appraisals from the international community as well. That’s why we have been observing this day from last three years,” he added.
Different programmes for Digital Bangladesh Day 2020 was announced in the press conference and the nationwide Online Quiz Competition was inaugurated.
The theme of this year’s Digital Bangladesh Day is “Jodio Manchi Durotyo, Tobuo Achi Songjukto” (Staying connected while maintaining distance).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the announcement of Digital Bangladesh in December 12, 2008. From the last three years, this day has been observed as Digital Bangladesh Day. This year will be the fourth iteration of the day.
Every ministry, division and government organisations have taken several initiatives to observe the day.
Department of Information and Communication Technology (DOICT) Director General (Additional Secretary) A B M Arshad Hossain, Director (Finance and Administration) Md Abul Hashem, representatives of Bangladesh Computer Council, Hitech park, a2i, government, private institutes and journalists were present in the press conference.
