Learning must go on during Covid-19: BUET VC

Professor Dr Satya Prasad Majumder, vice chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has said education must continue even amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We must continue our learning process with the help of technology in this Covid-19 period, make ourselves ready for the upcoming changes, and become capable of working in the upcoming era of the 4th industrial revolution,” the BUET vice chancellor added.

He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the “The Inauguration Session of Skill Development Program (SDP) for Students and Launching of CMA Directory Mobile App,” on Saturday evening, organised by the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).

Dr Majumder congratulated the institute for its modern efforts in learning and skills development. He said that accounting is a very relevant and important skill for engineers because their technical skills also require the capacity for proper calculation.

AKM Delwer Hussain, vice president of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), attended as the special guest at the event.

He said that skill development is such an important thing for any professional that it defines the result of their career.

CMA professionals are very much capable to work for the development of the nations’ economy, he added, requesting the chief guest to speak about CMA professionals in a positive light in various places and incorporate them in different relevant works with BUET.

Md Touhidul Alam Khan, additional managing director of Standard Bank Limited, gave a presentation on “Skill Development: Learn, adapt and accelerate,” where he highlighted the importance of skill development portraying various points and areas of soft skills and its proper implementation.

Among others, Md Mamunur Rashid, vice president and chairman of the ICMAB Education Committee, ICMAB President Md Jasim Uddin Akond, Treasurer Md Ali Haider Chowdhury, Secretary Md Munirul Islam, and Vice President Abu Bakar Siddique, were also present at the event.
