CU teachers protest Bangabandhu’s sculpture vandalism

Chattogram (Dec 6, 2020): A group of teachers of Chittagong University (CU) on Sunday staged a demonstration on the university premise protesting vandalism of Bangabandhu’s under construction sculpture in Kushtia on Friday night.
Prof Shirin Akhtar, vice-chancellor of the university, also took part in the protest rally expressing her solidarity to the program.
The agitating teachers in the rally said the culprits not only destroyed the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, rather they smashed the existence of the nation.
They demand exemplary punishment for the people involved in the heinous acts so that no one can show audacity to go for such activities in future.
Meanwhile, the University Teachers' Association has issued a statement demanding exemplary punishment for those involved in the vandalism.
In the statement, the association said, communal forces have been making provocative and misleading remarks against installation of the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Besides while talking to journalists at his secretariat office, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the law enforcement agencies arrested four people in connection with vandalism of the sculpture of Bangabandhu in Kushtia.
Miscreants dismantled some parts of the under construction sculpture of Bangabandhu at Panch Rasta intersection of Kushitia town on Friday night.
