Dhaka (Dec 15, 2020): The deadly coronavirus claimed 40 more lives and infected 1,877 people at different parts across the country including capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours ending 8:00am on Tuesday.

With the fresh daily tally, death toll from the virus rose to 7,129 while the infection cases to 4, 94, 209, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), disclosed the data in a press statement this afternoon.

Around 19, 054 samples were tested at different government authorised laboratories across the country and 1, 877 people were detected positive for the virus during the same period.

Meanwhile, 2,884 people, who were undergoing treatment with Covid-19 infection, were released from different hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the recovery number to 4, 26,729, the DGHS said.

The latest data shows the infection rate 9.85 percent while the recovery rate 86.35 percent in the same period.

Besides, the infection rate was 10.69 percent while the recovery rate was 86 percent in the previous 24 hours ending 8:00am on Monday.

In Bangladesh, the first coronavirus case was detected on March 8 and the first death case was reported just after 10 days of the same month.

According to the worldometers, around 16, 30, 029 people have so far died while 7, 32, 70, 606 people were infected from the virus across the world since its outbreak.
