Dhaka (Dec 17, 2020): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi held a virtual bilateral summit on Thursday and inked a total of seven Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) for the betterment of both the neighboring countries.

The cooperation documents in the areas of Bilateral Trade, Agriculture, Energy Cooperation (hydrocarbon), Elephant Preservation and Protection, High Important Development Community Project, Sewerage Treatment Plant in Barishal, and Cooperation between National Museum in New Delhi and Bangabandhu National Museum in Dhaka, were signed during the virtual meeting.   

This is Hasina’s first virtual summit with any prime minister of foreign countries during the pandemic of coronavirus.

and high officials of seven concerned ministries of Bangladesh and Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Vikram K Doraiswami, signed the MoUs on behalf of both the sides at the State Guesthouse Padma in Dhaka this morning.    

During the virtual summit, Indian High Commissioner Vikram K Doraiswami, said some killing incidents took place on bordering area between the two countries and termed those as unexpected.  

Agriculture Minister Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Junior Minister of Culture K M Khalid and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, were present at the MoU signing ceremony.

Hasina and Modi held the last bilateral talks in New Delhi on October 5 last year.

The Indian premier was scheduled to visit this year to join the birth centenary celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman but the trip was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
