Covid-19 claims 25 lives, infects 1,267 in last 24hrs

Dhaka (Dec 19, 2020): Bangladesh recorded 25 more coronavirus deaths and 1,267 new cases from different parts of the country including capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours ending 8:00am on Saturday.
With the updated figures, the total death toll reached 7, 242 while the tally of infection case stood at 4, 99, 560 in the last 24 hours, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) unveiled it in a press statement this afternoon.
During the same period, a total of 12,300 samples were tested at different government authorised laboratories at different parts across the country and 1,267 samples were found positive for the virus, it said.
Meanwhile, around 1, 987 people were discharged ‘from different hospitals, pushing the total recovery at 4, 35,601, the DGHS said.
According to the statistics, the death now stands at 1.45 percent, recovery rate at 87.20 percent and infection rate at 10.30 percent.
In Bangladesh, the first coronavirus case was detected on March 8 and the first death case was reported just after 10 days of the same month.
Since the outbreak of the virus, a total of 16, 83, 224 people died while 7, 61, 00, 149 people were infected from the virus across the world so far, according to worldomaters.
