Covid-19 claims 27 more lives, infects 932 in last 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded 27 more deaths and 932 new cases of infections from novel coronavirus at different parts of the country including capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours ending 8:00am on Monday.
The total death toll, with the updated figures, reached 7,479 while the total number of infections stood at 5,10,080, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) unveiled the data in a press release this afternoon.
In the last 24 hours, around 12,617 samples were tested at 161 government authorised laboratories across the country and 932 samples were found positive for the virus, the press release said.
Besides, a total of 1,357 people were declared free from infection of the virus and discharged them from different hospitals in the same period, taking the total number of recovery to 4, 53,318, the DGHS said.
According to the updated statistic, the infection rate of the virus stands at 7.39 percent while the recovery rate stands at 88.78 percent.
In Bangladesh, the first case of coronavirus was detected on March 8 and the DGHS detected the first death case of the virus on March 18.
According to worldometers, around 17, 73, 407 people have so far died and 8, 12, 05, 559 people been infected by the deadly virus across the world since its outbreak in China.
