Metro rail completes performance test from Uttara to Agargaon

The metro rail completed another trial run from Uttara to Agargaon route on Sunday.

The trail run began from its Diabari station in Uttara at around 9.30am and reached Agargaon station at 11.00am.

The speed of the train was 100 km/h when it reached Mirpur 10 intersection and later the speed was reduced to 15 km/h during the journey to Agargaon.

Earlier, the trail run of metro rail was limited to Mirpur 10 station. During this trial period, the train coach will not carry any passenger.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited Managing Director M A N Siddique said that the commercial operation of the train from Uttara to Agargaon will begin from December next year, and from Uttara to Motijheel will begin on December 2023.

The project officials told the Business Insider Bangladesh that the performance test is separated into three steps.

Earlier, the test run was limited to three stations beginning from Diabari in Uttara. In the last month, the test run was extended to Mirpur 10 and in the final stage, Agargaon was included in the test run phase, he said.

So far, the metro rail performance test is completed in nine stations. The stations are: Uttara North, Uttara Centre, Uttara South, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, Shewrapara, and Agargaon.
