Murad sued under Digital Security Act

A case was filed against former state minister for information and broadcasting Dr Murad Hassan under the Digital Security Act (DSA) in Rajshahi for his controversial remarks on women in an interview on social media.

Saiful Islam, former general secretary of Bogura Lawyers Association and senior joint convener of the district BNP filed the case against Dr Murad with Rahshahi Cyber Tribunal.

Sheikh Mohiuddin Helal, a host of a virtual talk show was also sued in the same case.

Plaintiff Saiful said that Dr Murad Hassan made derogatory remarks against Zaima Rahman while participating at a virtual talk show hosted by Sheikh Mohiuddin Helal. So, he filed the case.

When asked about the court order, he said the court has accepted the case but yet to issue any order.

Meanwhile, another appeal was submitted to sue Dr Murad Hassan under the Digital Security Act (DSA) for his disrespectful remarks on women in an interview on social media.

Advocate Omar Faruk Faruki, general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, lodged the complaint to the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal on Sunday.

The hearing of the case was set on December 13 as the judge was on leave Sunday.
