Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has underscored the need for enacting a law to appoint justice in light of the country’s constitution considering the present context.
“If a law is enacted, it will make the appointment process of judges more transparent and faster and the baseless concept among people over appointing judges will be dispelled,” he said on Wednesday.
Syed Mahmud Hossain made the observations while Supreme Court lawyers gave him felicitation as the chief justice would go into the retirement on December 30 this year.
According to the custom, the attorney general’s office and the Supreme Court Bar Association gives the felicitation to an outgoing chief justice.
Today, the farewell reception conveyed to Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain at the courtroom No 1 where Judges from both the Appellate and the High Court Divisions attended the programme.
