Covid-19: 30 more die, 1,181 infected in last 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded 30 more deaths and 1,181 new cases of novel coronavirus from different parts of the country including capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours ending 8:00am on Tuesday.

With the updated data, the total death toll from the virus rose to 7,509 while the total number of cases reached 4, 54, 563, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) made the data public in a press release this afternoon.

Some 14,588 samples were tested at 167 government authorised laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours and 1,181 samples were found positive for the virus, the DGHS said in the press release.

As many as 1,245 people, who were at home or hospital care with the infection, were declared free from the virus, climbing the total recovery number to 4,54,563, the DGHS said.

According to the new statistics, the recovery rate reaches 88.91 percent and positive rate 8.10 percent in the same period.

In Bangladesh, the first case of infection was detected on March 8 and the first death case was recorded on March 18.

In the world, as many as 17, 83,861 people have been died and 8, 17, 61, 237 people have been infected by the deadly virus since its outbreak in China in December last year, according to worldometers.
