The Dhaka Nagar Paribahan, under the bus route rationalisation programme, will start operation on December 26.
The starting point for the buses is Ghatarchar and the ending point is Kanchpur of Chittagong road via Motijheel.
The decision was taken Sunday at the 20th meeting of the Bus Route Rationalisation Committee. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Fazle Noor Taposh announced the decision following the meeting.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Queader will inaugurate the services.
The DSCC mayor also said that the passengers have to get their tickets through the e-ticketing system from the very first day, and the fare per kilometre is Tk 2.15.
Though the number of approved buses is 100, initially 50 buses will ply on the route - 30 of the buses are from the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation, while 20 buses are from the Trans Silva bus company. The rest of the buses will be added within the next 60 working days, said the mayor.
The DSCC mayor also said that unauthorised and unfit busses will not be allowed to run in the capital.
