Farida president, Elias general secy of Jatiya Press Club

Farida Yasmin and Elias Khan have been elected respectively as new president and general secretary of Jatiya Press Club.

The duo will serve the apex body of journalists for the next two years.

In the election held on Thursday, Farida obtained 581 votes while Elias Khan 566 votes.

A total of 1,151 voters exercised their franchise and the voter turnout was 86.88%.

Meanwhile, Hasan Hafeez was elected as the senior vice president with 431 votes while Rezwanul Haque Raja elected as the vice president with 651 votes.

In addition, Mainul Alam and Md Ashraf Ali were elected as joint secretaries and Shahed Chowdhury as treasurer.

Ayub Bhuiyan, Zahiduzzama Farooq, Bhanuranjan Chakrabory, Rahman Mustafiz, Rezanur Rahman, Shahnaz Siddiqui Shoma, Syed Abdal Ahmed, Kazi Raona Hossain, Bakhtiyar Rana and Shahnaz Begum Polly have been elected as members.
