Bangladesh lost many illustrious personalities from across various trades including journalism, politics, literature and film in 2021.

Many of them breathed their last after getting infected with coronavirus while some succumbed to other ailments and old age complications.

We have failed to pay our last respects to the departed souls in due manner due to the pandemic of the coronavirus. We seek eternal peace of the departed souls and convey sympathy to the bereaved family members. On behalf of nation, Business Insider Bangladesh salutes them.

Poet, writer and research

Begum Mushtari Shafi, Rafiqul Islam, Hasan Azizul Haque, Farhad Khan, Bashir Al Helal, Bulbul Chowdhury, Sheikh Abdul Hakim, Fazal-e-Khoda, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Habibullah Siraji, Shamshuzzaman Khan, Syed Abul Maksud and Rabeya Khatun. Other than these revered personalities, Junayed Babunagari, an Islamic scholar, died in 2021.

Film and cultural arena

Enamul Haque, Julhas Uddin Ahmed, Fakir Alamgir, Mesbahuddin Ahmed Wasim, Sarah Begum Kabari, Mita Haque, Indramohan Rajbanshi and ATM Shamsuzzaman.

Bangladesh also lost two noted economists –Shah Abdul Hannan and Khondakar Ibrahim Khalid during the pandemic of coronavirus.
