Fire under control at Bangla Motor’s Rahat Tower

A fire broke out at the top floor of 'Rahat Tower' in capital’s Bangla Motor area on Thursday morning has been brought under control.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Director (operations) Zillur Rahman told Business Insider Bangladesh on the spot that the fire was now under control with the efforts of their 11 units from 11:08 am to 12:30 pm.
On information, eleven fire fighting units consisting of 80 to 85 people worked to douse the blaze.
Fire services officer Rozina Akter said the blaze began at the 10th floor of the 11-storey ‘Rahat Tower’ around 11.05 and soon engulfed the building.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, but primarily it is assumed that the fire broke out from an air condition or electric short circuit.
"A probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire," she said.
No casualty was reported so far.
The 11-storied Rahat Tower also housed several media houses including television channels Jamuna and Bijoy.
