Zayed Khan gen secy of BFAA: HC

The High Court has ruled that actor Zayed Khan is the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association.

The HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman came up with the order on Wednesday.

Following the HC order, there is no legal bar for Zayed Khan to perform his duties as general secretary of the BFAA, Zayed Khan’s lawyer Ahsanul Karim told the media.

Earlier on February 7, the High Court stayed for a week the appellate board's decision that canceled candidacy of Zayed Khan and declared Nipun as the newly-elected general secretary of the BFAA.

The HC also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why the appellate board’s decision should not be declared illegal.

The HC bench passed the order and issued the rule following a writ petition filed by Zayed Khan, challenging the appellate board decision against him.

The bench also set February 15 for hearing on the rule. After hearing on the rule, the HC bench today came up with the order.

Besides, Nipun’s lawyer Barrister Mostafizur Rahman Khan told reporters that his client would file an appeal with the Supreme Court against the HC order.
