Top Taxpayers for FY2019-20
A total of 141 individuals, institutions and organisations of different sectors are going to be honoured as top taxpayers for fiscal year 2019-20.
National Board of Revenue (NBR) has already published a gazette notification with the list of the taxpayers.
Of the taxpayers, 76 are individuals, 53 companies and 12 others.
In individual category, five senior citizens, wounded freedom fighters, disabled people, women and youths, will receive the tax cards and honor crests.
A total of 13 businessmen, salaried persons, doctors, journalists, lawyers, engineers, architects, accountants, new taxpayers, sportsmen, actor-actresses, singers and others will also be honored with the tax cards and crests for their contribution to the national economy.
Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Transcom Group chairman late Latifur Rahman, Uttara Motors Chairman and Managing Director Matiur Rahman, BSRM Chairman AliHussain Akberali and Mostafizur Rahman have been named for the tax cards in the senior citizen category.
Md Nasir Uddin Mridha, Lt Gen (retd) Abu Saleh Mohammad Nasim, Md Joynal Abedin, Indubhushan Bhoumik and Abdul Mannan have been named as awardees in the war-wounded freedom fighters category.
Laila Hossain of Drug International and Shahnaz Rahman, chairman of Transcom Group, Anwar Hossain, Parveen Hasan and Poppy Rani Bhoumik have been named in women category.
Md Kaus Miah, owner of Hakimpuri Jarda, Syed Abul Hossain, Nazrul Islam Mazumdar, Md Nuruzzaman Khan, Mohammad Kamal have been named in businessmen category.
Standard Bank, Islami Bank, The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and National Bank have been enlisted under the company category.
In telecom category, Grameenphone has become the best taxpayer while Unilever Bangladesh, Square, Incepta and Reneta pharmaceuticals have become the top tax payers in pharmaceutical and chemical category.
In print and electronic media category, East West Media Group and Transcript and Media World while in the lather industry category, Bata Shoe Company, Apex Footwear and Lalmia Footwear have been selected for the tax cards and crests.
Messrs. SN Corporation and Sahara Enterprise of Chattograme, Messrs. ASBS of Sylhet and Messrs. Saleh Ahmed of Feni and Civil Aviation of Bangladesh and Bridge Authority, Asha, Bureau Bangladesh (NGO), Walton Hi-Tech, Central Depository, Police Welfare Trust and Army Welfare Organisation Head Office have been enlisted for the tax cards and crests in other categories.
