The government has withdrawn its decision to ration gas supply to industries for four hours a day that came into effect ten days ago.
The new decision will come into effect from Friday, Petrobangla announced in a notice on Thursday
On April 12, the government ordered suspending gas supply to industries 5:00pm to 9:00pm daily to stave off an acute gas crisis that had been affecting household and industrial consumers. Lack of gas was also causing load shedding during Ramadan, the fasting month.
The rationing was planned to remain in effect for 15 days. However, the supply crunch has been somewhat alleviated with new imports and also an increase in extracted gas from local gas fields, said sources.
However, the existing six-hour daily rationing (from 5:00pm to 11:00pm) at CNG-filling stations will remain in effect.
