BNP hatching conspiracy to resist foreign aid: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Thursday said the BNP is hatching conspiracy against the country through writing letters to the foreigners to resist global aid to the country.
“BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has sent letters to the congressman and senators of the US to reconsider the decision of providing assistance to Bangladesh,” said Hasan Mahmud.
The minister was addressing a discussion at Dr Milton Hall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on the occasion of historic Mujibnagar Day, with BSMMU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed in the chair, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
Hasan, also Joint Secretary of Awami League, said during the Liberation War, Ziaur Rahman did a job of Tk 400 per month under the Mujibnagar government, the first government of the country under which the Liberation War was conducted.
“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman could not take oath as he was in the prison in Pakistan. But the government, which was formed under his (Bangabandhu) leadership, took the oath on this day in 1971 at Mujibnagar in Kushtia (now Meherpur),” he added.
PM’s former adviser on health and social welfare and Chairman of Bangladesh Medical Research Council Professor Dr Syed Modasser Ali, Bangladesh Medical Association president Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad president Dr M Iqbal Arsalan, among others, also spoke.
