Mango harvesting begins

The harvesting of different varieties of mango, a succulent fruit, has begun in the country.
Five of the districts – Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Dinajpur and Satkhira – are the primary mango producers in the country.
Bangladesh produces a wide variety of this seasonal fruit. The most popular varieties include Gobindobhog, Gopalbhog, Langra, Amrapali, Fazli, Haribhanga, Awshina, Himsagar or Kheershapati, and Nag Fazli.
Meanwhile, the district administrations have announced the schedule to harvest the fruit.
Accordingly, Stakhira began harvesting Govindabhog and Gopal Bhog varieties on May 5. However, harvesting of Himsagar will begin on May 16.
Besides, the district administration set May 24 for harvesting Langra and June 1 for Amrapali.
In Rajshahi district, the harvesting of Gopalbhog will begin on May 20, Himsagar on May 28, Langra on June 6, Amrapali and Fazli on June 15, respectively.
Naogaon district will start harvesting Gopalbhog on May 30. Besides, the district will harvest Kheershapati and Himsagar on June 5, Nag Fazli on June 8, Haribhanga and Langra on June 12, Fazli on June 22 and Amrapali on June 25, respectively.
