The cross-border rail services between Bangladesh and India will resume from May 29 after the operation suspended for more than two years due to the pandemic of coronavirus.

The Maitri Express Service between Dhaka-Kolkata and the Bandhan Express Service between Kolkata-Khulna would be resumed on 29 May.

Maitri Express Service will start its service from Dhaka while the Bandhan Express Service will start its service from Kolkata, said a press statement issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Friday.

The Mitali Express Service between New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka will be launched on June 1 from New Jalpaiguri after a virtual inauguration by the railway ministers of India and Bangladesh.

Interested passengers may note the dates for the resumption of Maitri and Bandhan Express Services and the launch of Mitali Express Service, the press statement read.

Before the suspension in March 2020, Maitree Express was being operated on Dhaka-Kolkata route for five days in a week while Bandhan Express on Khulna-Kolkata route twice weekly.
