Sobar Dhaka app gets over 400 service requests in one month

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has received over 400 complaints and service requests lodged by the residents through its smartphone app ‘Sobar Dhaka’ in the first one month.
On January 10, the DNCC launched the app in an effort to ensure its responsibility and accountability to the city dwellers, said a press release.
Through the app the city dwellers can lodge complaints about irregularities of the city corporation authorities through sending text messages and images.
Since the inception of the app, the DNCC has received a total of 429 complaints and service requests until 3:00pm on Tuesday and 318 of them have so far been addressed, the press release said.
Among the requests, a total of 113 came for repairing dilapidated roads and manholes in the city area and of them 94 have been addressed.
Besides, 94 requests came regarding roadside lamps and of them 90 have been addressed.
Seventy-eight requests came for evicting illegal structure and 57 for curbing mosquito menace and the DNCC so far addressed 22 and 46 requests respectively.
In the press release, DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said the app had been introduced in order to reach all services and facilities of the city corporation to the doorstep of people.
