Information Minister praises ‘Bangabandhu’ biopic shooting progress

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday visited the shooting spot of ‘Bangabandhu,’ a biopic on Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in Mumbai and expressed his satisfaction at its progress.

This biopic, jointly made by Bangladesh and India, is directed by Shyam Benegal.

Hasan was welcomed by Maharashtra Health Education and Culture Minister Amit Deshmukh. They visited the shooting set with the actors and praised about the filming.

The Mumbai part of the Biopic will end in April and the shooting of the Bangladesh part will start in September.

Hasan also visited the National Museum of Indian Cinema in Mumbai and exchanged views with Indian citizens participating in the Bangladesh Liberation War. He also exchanged views with dignitaries in the Mumbai film arena.

During his five-day visit from February 5, the information minister inaugurated the 3rd Bangladesh Film Festival in Kolkata to mark the 49th anniversary of Bangabandhu’s historic speech to more than one million Bengalis in the presence of Indira Gandhi at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on February 8, 1972.

The information minister is scheduled to return to the country on Thursday.
