I want to inspire people to take vaccines: Finance minister

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said he wants to inspire Bangladeshi citizens to gladly receive Covid-19 vaccines as there are no complications associated with the procedure.

“I do not want to expose myself by taking pictures although I took the jab on Tuesday at the Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital,” he said on Wednesday.

The finance minister made the statement while speaking to reporters during a virtual briefing after an online meeting of the cabinet committees on Public Procurement and Economic Affairs.

The minister also said he will attend regular meetings instead of virtual meetings if everyone receives vaccines, including journalists.

Kamal said that once all eligible citizens of the country are vaccinated, they would feel good and would be able to give their utmost efforts towards advancing the country’s economy.

Bangladesh on Sunday began a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, days after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched the immunization campaign from Dhaka on Jan 27.
