45,000 primary school teachers to be recruited: State minister

The government will recruit 45,000 teachers to primary schools across the country immediately to ensure quality education, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain has said.

“We will hire 45,000 teachers by the current years through the existing recruiting process,” Zakir Hossain said while inaugurating the online transfer process of primary school teachers at his secretariat office in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The initiative has been undertaken to make the transfer process transparent and hassle free, the state minister said, adding that the transfer programme will be fully started across the country from next month.

From now on, the assistant teachers of Upazila level primary schools will be eligible for the transfer and the transfer process for the teachers of metropolitan cities will begin later, he said.

Teachers who applied for transfer until 15 July will be brought under this process and once the pilot project ends, the transfer process of assistant teachers in government primary schools will go online across the country.
