Govt to consider age limit for BCS examinees: Education minister

Education Minister Dipu Moni on Monday said that the government would consider relaxing the age bar for aspirants of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) whose age crossed the limit during the pandemic of coronavirus.
The education minister said this while addressing an emergency virtual press conference over the prevailing situation in the country’s higher educational institutes this afternoon.
The date of submission of BCS application and examination will be deferred so that the aspirants whose age crossed the limit during the Covid-19 pandemic were not losers, the minister said.
About the vaccination at the educational institutions, she said arrangements to vaccinate all teachers and students would have to be ensured before reopening of the residential halls.
The students who are unable to take the vaccine on medical grounds will also be able to stay at their respective halls, she made it clear at the press conference.
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission issued circulars of the 42nd and the 43rd BCS examinations. The 42nd BCS will be special. The preliminary test of the general 43rd BCS is scheduled to be held in March.
As many as 2,000 assistant surgeons will be recruited through the special BCS to tackle the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Besides, a total of 1,814 officials, including 300 in public administration, 100 in police, 25 in foreign service and 843 teachers, will be recruited through the general 43rd BCS.
