The Bangladesh Competition Commission on Wednesday directed the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College to terminate the agreement with its sole supplier of uniforms.
The commission warned the school for its collaboration with Messrs Chowdhury Enterprise for supplying students’ uniforms in violation of the competition law.
It also fined Messrs Chowdhury Enterprise Tk80,000, which is 2 percent of the yearly turnover the firm earns from the Viqarunnisa Noon School contract.
The commission asked Viqarunnisa to select at least three tailor firms for sourcing school uniforms for each of its branches.
The school should give newspaper advertisement to call interested tailor firms to participate in a bidding process, and selection should follow competition laws, said the commission order.
The commission also asked the school to submit a complacency report by April this year.
