DSCC realises fine Tk 80,000, vows to continue eviction drive in Gulistan

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Thursday conducted drive in the red zone of Gulistan for the third day and evicted around 200 hawkers in a bid to make the footpath free from illegal occupations.

During the drive, 14 people were fined Tk 80,000 for illegally setting up stalls on the footpaths and roadsides.

Apart from collecting fines, the DSCC filed a total of 14 cases against them under sub section 7 and 8 of section 92 of the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009.

The drive from Gulistan’s Zero Point to Ahad police Box was led by Md Muniruzzaman, Estate Officer and Executive Magistrate of DSCC.

The drive continued from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

“Our eviction drive will continue so that vehicles coming from the country’s southwest crossing the Padma Bridge can move freely around the Mayor Hanif Flyover and its adjacent areas,” said Muniruzzaman.

Enamul Haque, Councilor of Ward No 13 and Farid Uddin Ahmed Ratan, Councilor of Ward No 20 of DSCC, were present during the drive.
