The cabinet has sent the draft National Adaptation Plan (2023-2050) back to the environment ministry to make further improvements.
The draft of the plan was presented to the cabinet meeting on Monday by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change for approval.
Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam briefed the media on the matter after the cabinet meeting. Earlier in the morning, a regular meeting of the cabinet was held at the Prime Minister’s Office under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The National Adaptation Plan has to be modernised according to SDG 2030, Vision 2041, Delta Plan 2100 and international commitments, the cabinet secretary said.
The presented plan has programmes with 90 high priorities and 23 medium priorities and to implement it, an equivalent amount of about $230 billion will be required till 2050, he informed.
However, after reviewing, the cabinet felt a little more modification is needed in the plan and decided to return it for this purpose, he said.
It should be modified and then presented back to the cabinet, he added.
