All flight operations at Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Barisal airports have been suspended due to the impact of approaching cyclone Sitrang.
The decision came into effect from 3:00pm on Monday and will continue till 12:00pm on Tuesday, Wing Commander Taslim Ahmed, director of the airport, told Business Insider Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in its latest weather bulletin asked the maritime ports of Mongla and Payra to hoist cautionary signal no 7 while the Chattogram seaport and Cox’s Bazar to hoist danger signal number 6 due to the cyclonic storm.
The BMD has increased the warning in the country’s seaports as the cyclonic storm Sitrang is likely to intensify further.
Cyclone Sitrang may hit the country’s coastal areas after 12:00am, said the bulletin.
