4 persons arrested for attacking ex SC justice Manik

The law enforcers on Thursday claimed to have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in carrying out an attack on former Supreme Court justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik.

Manik came under attack by a group of miscreants in Nayapaltan area on Wednesday and he sustained injuries on his head, according to police.

The attackers also vandalised his private car and assaulted his bodyguard and driver when he was passing through the area. Later, Manik was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The attack took place around 4:30 pm on the day when he was going to an office of a private TV channel at Karwan Bazar from Motijheel by his private car.

A case was lodged with Paltan Police Station in this connection and police arrested four persons who belong to BNP politics, A K M Hafiz Akter, additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told the media.

Following the case, the law enforcers arrested the four BNP men by carrying raids at different parts of the capital Dhaka last night, he said.

Later, the arrestees were handed over to the Detective Branch of Police for taking the next course of legal action against them, said Akhter.
