A Rohingya family, which got separated during the persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, reunited after five years of their exile.
The reunion has been made possible following the mediation of the Norwegian Refugee Council, Sadia Rahman, communications officer of the refugee council, wrote on her Linkedin page on Wednesday.
“It was chaos all over. They had to flee their village immediately. And before they could realise it, the family got separated,” she wrote.
“When they reached safety, the mother was separated from her son and they lost each other. Five years passed, but with the pain of losing loved ones.
“Then one day the sun smiled brighter than ever, and everything seemed like a miracle. They finally came to know that their family was alive.
“And all along they had been living only 73 kilometers apart. Life can be like this for people who are displaced, had to flee, or take refuge in other places.”
