Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok

Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand has observed the historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due respect and fervour.
The programme started with Ambassador Mohammed Abdul Hye placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, according to a press release.
Minister (Political) and DCM Maleka Parveen, ndc; and Minister (Consular) Hasnat Ahmed of the embassy read out the speeches given by President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina respectively.
Later at the event, a video on Bangabandhu’s return to Bangladesh was shown.
The event was attended by all the officials and employees of the embassy. They participated in a discussion.
During the discussion, the mission’s Counsellor (Political) Dayamayee Chakraborty highlighted the significance of Bangabandhu’s January 10 speech.
Minister (Consular) Hasnat Ahmed said Bangabandhu's 7th March speech gave the direction of the freedom struggle while the speech on January 10, 1972, gave direction for the formation of the newly independent state of Bangladesh.
Ambassador Mohammed Abdul Hye began his speech by paying homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the valiant freedom fighters who were martyred in the 1971 Liberation War.
In his speech, the ambassador gave the background of Bangabandhu's homecoming and discussed the significance of the day at a diplomatic level. Ambassador Hye also highlighted Bangabandhu's political ideology and his human qualities.
Bangabandhu’s farsighted directives and visionary guidance for the newly independent country on January 10 speech are still relevant today, the ambassador added.
The mission’s Counsellor and Head of Chancery Md Masumur Rahaman conducted the event.
